New York Volunteers/DeLancey's Brigade |
June 29th, 1777 Last Sunday night a foraging party, consisting of the New-York companies of Volunteers, under the command of Major GRANT, went out from Kingsbridge. They fell in with a party of the Rebels, killed six, took eight prisoners, twenty-five head of cattle, and eleven horses, which they brought in on Monday evening. On their arrival, Colonel Stephen DeLANCEY set out with another party, and returned on Tuesday evening with twenty-five prisoners, including a Captain and Subaltern, with twenty head of cattle. It is reported they had a skirmish before the prisoners were taken, that fifteen of the Rebels were killed, and that our loss was one man killed and two wounded. The prisoners taken by Maj. GRANT, were brought to town on Tuesday; and those by Col. DeLANCEY, yesterday afternoon.
