To His Excellency Thomas CARLETON Esqr. Captain General and Governor in Chief of the province of New Brunswick and Teritories thereon depending Chancellor and vice admiral of the same &c: &c: &c: |

The Humble petition of Elnathan APPLEBY Sheweth That your petitioner formerly belonged to His Majesty's Late Queens Rangers, in which he was Serjeant from the year of 1776 to the time of their being disbanded, and had drew lands as such with said Regiment, which lands being so very far up the River St. John, he wishes to Resign his lands so drawn, and to draw some vacant lot more contigious to this Town-- Your petitioner having understood that the lots No. 8, 9 and 15, on the great Kennebeckacis above darlings Island whitmore's survey, Still Remains vacant does therefore Humbly implore His Excellency's goodness to grant him either of said lots, as your petitioner intends making improvements the insueing season-- Your petitioner as in duty bound shall ever pray
