Lloyd's Neck 21st June 1780 Sir I received yours of date 18th Inst. relative to two men Claim'd by the 2nd Batn. New Jersey Volunteers, (they are given up) but prior to the Receipt of Capt. ROOKE's I had Reported the State of Matters to Br. Genl. DeLANCEY who Examin'd the men and reported to Genl. SMITH Who order'd the men to remain with the King's Amn. Regimt. till further Enquery was made. But upon Receipt of your letter I order'd them to Join Lt. Col. MORRIS's Corps, and I was so ill with the fevor and Ague that I could not answer yours
