Honored Sir,

Lieut. Colonel BUSKIRK begs Leave to recommend to the mercy of His Excellency General Sir Henry CLINTON, The Prisoner Sergeant TASWELL of the 4th Battalion of New Jersey Volunteers (Under Sentence of Death by a General Court martial) As he has been in the Regiment since it was first formd.

And has behaved with the greatest alertness and Bravery (as a Sergeant) upon all Detachments and parties (till this unhappy misconduct) many of which I have been an eye witness of myself-
