This is to certify that Thomas GIBSON was recommended to me by Captain Sir Hyde PARKER Commander of His Majesty's Ship of War Phoenix for a Warrant for a Commission in The King's American Regt. when I was raising that Regiment,

which Warrant he obtained for a Lieutenancy and when recruiting for the Regiment was killed by the Rebels in Westchester County, leaving behind him a Widow & five orphan Children.

Given under my Hand this 15th day of May 1780
