The Memorial of John VAN DIKE Major Commandant of the Late West Jersey Volunteer Humbly Sheweth That your Excelly. Memorialist being ne[ce]ssarily at a Very Considerable Expence in Maintaining Said Battn. while in Small Numbers before they where mustered, and having the Command of them only to the 24th October 1778 When he was Reduced to half Pay his Expences in maintaining Part of Said Battalin and the Excessive high Prices for the Ne[ce]ssaries of Life has Reduced him to Very Disagreeable Circumstance. Your Memorialist Therefore Humbly intreats Your Excely. that he May Receive from the 24th Octobr. 78 to the 24th October 79, Such an adition to his pay already Received as to make it full pay to the Sd. 24th October 79 Which he hopes will Extricate him from his Present Very Disagreeable Situation. And Your Excellencies Memorialist as in Duty Bound Shall Ever Pray-
