Head Quarters Philadelphia 21st March 1778. Sir I am directed by the Commander in Chief to desire you will repair by first Opportunity to Billingsport on the Jersey Shore, there to take Command of the Jersey Volunteers, who are to embark for that place tomorrow under the Command of Major DE WEBBER. Enclosed you have a Commission from His Excellency the Commander in Chief impowering you to take upon you that Command, And Major DE WEBBER will, on you Arrival at Billingsport, inform you Particularly as to the Commander in Chiefs Orders respecting that Post, and the Stores sent there. You will please to inform Colo: MAWHOOD with your having received this Order.
