Head Quarters New York 16th May 1781 Dear Sir I have the greatest Satisfaction in obeying The Commander in Chief’s orders to Communicate to you and the Officers and Men under your Command, His Excellency’s thanks for the Spirit and Conduct of Colonel GREEN. The account arrived just as Brigadier General LELAND was going to Sail for England, which gave the General an Opportunity of sending it home by him with Instructions to Speak to the Minister in the most favorable terms of such handsome behaviour.
I am, Dear Sir, Colonel James DeLANCEY
