Stewart's Troop of Light Dragoons |
Dear Sir, I wish with your permission to augment the provincial Light Horse-men employ'd on this Island to Twenty or Twenty four, men, exclusive of the Officers appointed to Command them. They consist at present of Twelve, & I am happy to report, that they are all very smart young men fit for any Service they may be Ordered upon- Mr. STEWART who has the Charge of them is a very diligent attentive Spirited man, worthy of notice; I really think they may be of great Service during the Course of the Campaign;- if the proposed Augmentation meets with your Approbation, I shall endeavour to effect it as soon as possible. I have the honour to be with the greatest Respect
Dear Sir Staten Island P.S.- In case you may want to speak to Mr STEWART concerning the Light horsemen under his Charge, I have sent this letter by him-
