Fred: HALDIMAND Captain General & Governor in Chief in and over the Province of Quebec & the Territories depending thereon in America, Vice Admiral of the same Genl. & Commander in Chief of His Majesty’s Forces in said Province & frontiers thereof &c &c &c. To James DAVIDSON Gent. I do by these presents constitute & appoint You to be Surgeon to the Corps of British Militia for the Town of Quebec (during pleasure) Whereof Heny. CALDWELL Esqr. is Lieutenant Colonel Commandant. You are therefore carefully and diligently to discharge the duty of Surgeon to the said Corps, by doing & performing all and all manner of things thereunto belonging and you are to observe and follow such orders and directions as you shall receive from me, the Governor or Commander in Chief of His Majesty’s Forces in the said Province for the time being, or any other your Superior Officers, regarding His Majesty’s Service. Given Under my hand and Seal at Arms at the Castle of St. Louis at Quebec this 24th day of Feby. 1781 and in the 21st Year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith and so forth.
