Before John BEDDELL Esqr. One of his Majesty’s Justices of Peace Richmond County Staten Island North America- Personally appeared William WASHBURN, James SHARP, Jacob BURRY, and Abraham BROWN who being each duly Sworn on the Evangelists of Almighty God deposeth and sayeth that they belonged to Captain EAGLES’s Company in the Corps of Queens Rangers Commanded by Lieut. Colo. ROGERS when the British Army Under the Command of Sir Willm. HOWE landed in West Chester County that they were detached a small distance from the rest of the Regiment, Under the Command of Captn. EAGLES to take possession of the town of New Rochelle- which Service was performed without a Shot no body appearing to oppose them- that they belong’d to said EAGLES’s Company when it was attacked soon after at Maroneck by a Body of Rebels in the Night when Ensn. HUSTON who then Commanded with some of the Privates were killed and upwards of 30 made prisoners among which number were the deponents that Captn. EAGLES was not with the Company at that time that when the Corps marched to Maroneck, Captn. EAGLES staid behind at New Rochelle that the Compy. was Commanded by Ensn.
