City & County Inquisition Indented and taken at the House of John COCK, in the West Ward of the said City, the Twentieth day of May, One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty three, and in the Twenty third Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord, George the third King of Great Britain &c &c &c before me Wm. WADDELL Esqr. Coroner, upon the View of the Body of Lawrence WHILEY, late a Soldier in the Prince of Wales American Regiment who died in the College Hospital, on the Nineteenth Instant, and there lying dead upon the Oaths of John COCK, George LUCAM, Jacob POZER, Michael NESTLE, Leonard SLIP, Samuel BELL, William JENNINGS, John GIDNEY, Joseph SMITH, Peter JOHNS, John REES and Joseph EVE, good and Lawfull Men of the City aforesaid, who being Sworn and Charged to inquire on the part of our said Lord the King, when, how, and after what manner the said Lawrence WHILEY, came to his death, Do say, upon their Oath, That After Viewing the said Lawrence WHILEY & finding no external marks of violence on his body to Cause his death, are of Opinion from the Surgeons Certificate on the Examination of the body, the said Lawrence WHILEY, died a natural Death, In witness Whereof, as well the aforesaid Coroner, as the Jurors Aforesaid, have to this Inquisition put their hands and Seals on the day & Year aforesaid, and at the place aforesaid.
