| Loyal Associated Refugees |
| Gentlemen On my arrival at Rhode Island I received orders to hold myself in readiness with the rest of the fleet, and proceed to New York. It is not probable I shall be at the Vineyard this winter, You will therefore take such measures, as may be thought proper, to forward me the accounts of the Cattle, Sheep, Poultry &c purchased and not paid for- also the quantity of wood brought off- nothing shall be wanting on my part that Justice is done to the inhabitants of Martha's Vineyard.
I am your Friend Newport 20th October 1779
