To His Excellency Sir Guy CARLETON Knight of the most honorable Order of the Bath, Commander in Chief of his Majesty's Forces in North America &c &c |

The Memorial of Anthony ALLAIRE humbly sheweth, That Your Memorialist who is the Oldest Lieutenant in the Loyal American Regt was, at the begining of this contest, from principles of Loyalty to his Sovereign & Attachment to the Mother Country, induced to leave his property, & was appointed to the Loyal American Regt by the recommendation of Colonel ROBERTSON. From the time he has been in the Regt he hopes that his attention to his Duty, & uniform behaviour, both here & in three Years service to the Southard, has been such as to merit the approbation of his superior Officers.- As he is confident Colonel ROBERTSON will testify to Your Excellency.- And that as the Captain Lieutcy of the Regt is now vacant- he humbly hopes & prays that Your Excellency will, with your wonted candour, consider his Services, & if You should see proper to promote him to the Captain Lieutenancy he flatters himself he shall neither be a disgrace to the Regt or to his Majesty's service. And as in duty &c.
