King's County, New York Militia |
Brooklyn July 23rd 1781 Sir As I am just on the eve of embarking for Canada according to His Excellency the Commander in Chiefs orders, to return to the Command of His Serene Highness my Master’s Troops in that province, I should reproach myself if in announcing the same, and taking leave, I did not assure You Sir That I have every sense of your exertions and ardor in assisting me as far as in your power with the Militia under your orders for the more effectual defence of this Island and to return you every thank for the readiness with which You complied with all my orders to this purpose and at the same time to declare that I shall never forget all your personal Civilities to me. I beg leave to add my best wishes for your happiness.
And have the Honor to be Colonel AXTELL Great Britain, Public Record Office, Audit Office, Class 13, Volume 98, folio 53. Click here for ---> Regimental History Main Page More King's County New York Militia History
