New York August 8th 1779 Dear Sir, I have received your Letters, and answered most of them; but I find by some strange fatality none of mine to Governor BROWNE, Captain GRANT or yourself have been received. Captain GRANT’s behaviour requiring Explanasion, I have long since desired him to give up the Command to you & repair to this place; I take it for granted he will leave Providence immediately, it is therefore necessary that you should remain there ‘till I can Send and Officer to relieve you. You will find by Lord RAWDON’s Letter in what particular I think Captain GRANT has not conducted himself properly towards Governor BROWNE, and will regulate yourself accordingly.
I am &c. Captain TERRILL University of Michigan, William L. Clements Library, Sir Henry Clinton Papers, Volume 65, item 34. Click here for ---> Regimental History Main Page More Royal Garrison Battalion History
