Request for Leave

Charles Town 2d June 1780

Sir

My very ill state of Health has rendered me unfit for Service some time, nor have I any hopes of soon getting better, my Doctr. recommends my returning to New York as the best means of my recovery, for which indulgence I have presumed to ask your assistance to procure my leave.

I am with Respect
Sir
Your most Obedt. Huml. Servt.
John ALDINGTON
Capt. Gs. & Ps.

P.S.
I understand some Victulars will proceed to New York, should be happy (as they have generally roomy accomodations) to get on Board one of them.

Major Andrie
