Charles Town 2d June 1780 Sir My very ill state of Health has rendered me unfit for Service some time, nor have I any hopes of soon getting better, my Doctr. recommends my returning to New York as the best means of my recovery, for which indulgence I have presumed to ask your assistance to procure my leave.
