Emmerick's Chasseurs: Desertion Notice

DESERTED

ON Friday night the 6th of February, from Capt. EMMERICK's company of Chasseurs,

DENNIS CARTY,

A native of Ireland, about Twenty-one years of age, his stature about five feet six inches high, sandy hair, and freckled face, Also,

PETER BLACK,

Born in the city of New-York, Twenty-two years of age, five feet seven inches high, of a dark complexion, took away with them three dark brown watch-coats, and their rifles; also took away from Mr. William WARNER, near Cortland's, a couple of horses, which the villains thought fit to restore to the owner, who pursued and overtook them at Tarry-Town, on his paying them fourteen pounds.

To any person or persons, who shall apprehend either or both the said Deserters, and bring them to my quarters at Kingsbridge, a reward of Five Guineas for each of said Deserters will be given. Not in regard to the value of their services, but for the sake of making a just example, by punishing the base ingratitude of two men, who have been distinguished with particular marks of my favour and confidence.

ANDREAS EMMERICK,
Captain of the Chasseurs
