The Petition of Hannah NEIL the widow of John NEIL late Ensign & Adjutant in the first Battalion of General Delanceys Brigade- Humbly Sheweth that the Petitioners husband died some time ago leaving her with two Children, one of them but a few days old and in very poor Circumstances- That General DELANCEY by whom she has always been treated with the greatest Sympathy and kindness informed her that upon making application to his Excellency the commander in chief who would order one years pay to the widow & half a year to each of the children, for the Aid of Persons in her Situation. That the high Price of every necessary of life has rendered it absolutely necessary for the Petitioner to trouble your Excellency on this occasion & pray that your Excellency may be pleased to order her such moneys; if there be nothing unreasonable in the prayers of
Hannah NEIL
