Head Quarters 6th July 1781 Parole St. Eustatia CS/ Holland Prisoners Isaac POWNELL, Serjt. Benjamin BENNET, Esara WOOD, Gideon FANNER, Cahin FLINDS, Ephraim THOMAS, Emanuel HUMPHRIES and Samuel HINDMAN of Rogers Corps, tried at the General Court Martial Whereof Lieut. Colo. FRENCH was president held at Quebec the 25th of June 1781 are found guilty of an intention to desert, and thought improper Subjects to serve His Majesty in this Country. William GILES of the 31st Regt. tried for Desertion is found guilty and Sentenced to receive one thousand Lashes. John COOK of the 8th Regt. tried for Desertion is found Guilty and sentenced to receive One thousand Lashes. Alexander FRASER of the 8th Regt. tried for Desertion is found guilty and Sentenced to receive Seven hundred Lashes. John ARMITAGE of the 33rd Regt. tried for Desertion is acquitted. John CAMPBELL of Rogers's Corps tried for Desertion, for want of Sufficient Evidence is acquitted. The Commander in Chief approves of the above Sentences and directs, that the Eight men of Rogers's Corps, be kept in Custody, till a favorable opportunity offers to send them out of the province. William GILES to receive his Punishment at the Quarters of his Regiment. John COOK to receive his Punishment at the head of the Guards of the Garrison. Alexr. FRASER being recommended by the Court as an object of mercy on account of being disordered in his mind, His Excellency is pleased to forgive him the Punishment allotted him but directs he be kept in custody 'till further orders. John ARMINTAGE of the 33rd Regt. to be released from his Confinement, and drafted into the 44th Regiment. John CAMPBELL of Rogers's Corps to remain in Custody 'till further Orders. The above General Court Martial is dissolved The Officers to repair to their respective Cantonments without delay.
