I do hereby Certify that Shedrick FURMAN a Free Black man, who is both blind and Lame, by occupation a fidler, was under my Care for the Cure of a Broken Leg, & for the recovery of his Sight, which cou’d not be effected, and was in so poor a State of health as not to be able to leave his Bed, when the Honorable Commissioners of American Claims were in Shelburne, and utterly incapable of Attending the Board, Given under my Hand Shelburne August ye 30th, 1787.
John HUGGEFORD I do hereby Certify that the Above Shedrick FERMAN was in the poor and Sickly situation represented by Doctor HUGGEFORD, Given under my Hand, Shelburne August 30th 1787.

Personally appeared before me Gregory SPRINGALL one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace for the Town and County of Shelburne Edward RICE, who made Oath that he see John BLAIR sign the above Certificate and that he would Certifie to the truth of the aforesaid Certificate sign’d by John HUGGERFORD to be just and true.
