Memorial of James Crawford of New York

To the Honourable the Commissioners
appointed by Act of Parliament further to
enquire into the Losses and Services of the
American Loyalists.

The Memorial of James CRAWFORD &c &c &c

Most Humbly Sheweth

That your Memorialist was Late from the County of West Chester in the Province of New York and for his Loyalty to His Majesty and firm attachment to the British Government did make his Escape from the Said County and Join’d the British Army at New York in the Month of April 1777 and went into the Pioneers and remained in Said Service until the Year 1777 and having a Family Retired to Loyds Neck on Long Island when he lived and Did Duty with the Refugees Until he came to this Province and the Losses he Sustained and Services Rendered to Government are Annexed in the Schedule and Estimate.

Your Memorialist therefore Prays that his Case may May be taken into your Consideration in Order that your Memorialist May be Enabled under your Honours Report to Receive Such Aid and Relief as his Losses and Services may be found to Deserve and as in duty Bound will Ever Pray.
