To Captain Stephen HOLLAND, of the Prince of You are hereby authorized and empowered to raise for His Majesty's Service all able bodied Men, who will engage to carry Arms under my Orders, or the Orders of the Commander in Chief of His Majesty's Forces, for the Time being, for Two Years, or if required during the Continuance of the present Rebellion in North America. The Men so raised shall either be made over to such Corps as will indemnify you for the Expence of Recruiting them, or (if their Numbers are sufficient) be formed into a Battalion, the Command of which will be given to you. Each Man to receive Five Dollars Bounty, when approved of by the Inspector General of Provincial Forces, or his Deputy; and they will receive the same Pay, and be under the same Discipline as His Majesty's Regular Troops. All Officers civil and military, and Others His Majesty's liege Subjects, are hereby required to be aiding and assisting to you, and all concerned in the Execution of the above Service; for which this shall be to you and them a sufficient Warrant and Authority. Given under my Hand and Seal at Head Quarters, New York, the 12th Day of December 1778.
