Opinion on memorial of Stephen Holland of New Hampshire

War Office August 9th 1786.

I have received your Letter of the 5th Instant enclosing the Memorial of Mr. Stephen HOLLAND stating his Losses and Services in America, praying that such higher Rank and half pay may be allowed him as he shall be thought to merit, and desiring I would take the same into consideration and report to the Lords of the Treasury my opinion what is fit to be done therein.

In answer to which I beg you will inform their Lordships that as Mr. HOLLAND did not fulfil his engagements he is not entitled to any higher rank or half pay than that which he at present holds, as Captain in the Prince of Wales's American Regiment; but as he appears to be a zealous Loyalist and to have been very serviceable during the War, I recommend him to their Lordships humane attention.

I am,
Your most obedient
Humble Servant
Gee: YONGS

Thomas STEELE Esqr.
