To the Honble Commissioners appointed by the Rt. Honble the Lords of the Treasury for enquiring into the Losses and Services of the American Loyalists-- |

The Memorial of Miles McINNES Lieut. of the North Carolina Militia Humbly Sheweth That your Memorialist was appointed a Lieutenant in the Regiment of Militia under Colonel Hector McNEIL in North Carolina in the year 1780, did duty as such 'till being out on a Scouting Party nigh the Cheraws was, with several Others, taken Prisoner, and carried to Cross Creek Jail, where he was loaded with Irons, and suffered many Cruelties. That the Rebels getting Intelligence that the British Troops were advanced nigh Cross Creek, took off his Irons, & your Memorialist by the Help of some Friends made his Escape to the British Army, where he acted Lieut. as formerly under Colonel RAY and proceeded with him to Wilmington, after the Evacuation of which Place he went with the British Troops to Charles Town and from thence to St. Augustine, where he was continued in the same Office 'till Peace was concluded. That your Memorialist received at Charles Town a Twelve Months Half Pay and no more by Order of General LESSLIE for the Time of his Loyalty. That your Memorialist by his Absence was deprived of all his Effects, both personal and real in America, as P Schedule hereunto annexed & no means or calling being left him of supporting himself, was necessitated to come over to England, where he arrived the 9th Instant & resides now in London without Friends or Money in great Want of a present Supply; therefore prays that his Case may be taken into your Consideration, that he may be enabled under your Report to subsist till such Time as it is Convenient for the Commissioners appointed by Act of Parliament to enquire into his Losses & Services &
