The Memorial of James STINSON Humbly Sheweth That your Memorialist formerly resided in Saint Georges, Province of Maine, and always professed his loyalty and attachment to the British Government. That he joined the troops at Penobscot and took the Oath of Allegiance in Consequence of which his Farm and House at Saint Georges were plundered by a rebel privateer. That your Memorialist before his coming within the Lines did all in his power to forward the Royal Cause, and afterwards made every exertion to distress the Rebels, particularly being one of the Crew of a Privateer belonging to Penobscot with William STEWART and others. They took a Schooner owned by one Blaisdale of Portsmouth, carried her in to Penobscot where she was condemned and sold. That since the peace your Memorialists property which remained at Saint Georges, has been attached at the Suit of Blaisdale for the above Capture & adjudged to him as satisfaction for his Loss. Your Memorialist therefore having subjoined his Claim, prays your Honors upon Consideration thereof, will make such report of his Losses and Services as will entitle him to some Compensation.
