Whitehall 10th April 1781. Inclosed I send you by Lord George GERMAIN's directions the petition of Jane CONSTABLE, widow of Alexander CONSTABLE Esqr. late Captain in the Provincial Forces in North America, for the Consideration of the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury, and I am directed to acquaint you for their Lordships information, that when Captain CONSTABLE went to America he was recommended by his Lordship to Sir William HOWE who at that time Commanded in Chief, and that it was in consequence of that recommendation that he was employed in the Army.
