My Lord

I have the honor to recommend to your Lordship’s protection the Bearer hereof Mr. McLEAN late Lieutenant in the Jamaica Volunteers, a Gentleman whose spirited exertions in the Expedition to St. Juan’s will justly, I presume, entitle him to a confirmation of the Rank of Ensign in the 1st Battalion of the 60th Regiment, to which I have appointed him.

I have the honor to be with the greatest respect My Lord yr. Lordship’s most obedient, and most humble Servt.
