Loyalist History

Author Moore, Christopher.
Title The Loyalists: Revolution, Exile, Settlement.
Publisher McClelland & Stewart, Inc. Toronto, 1984.
An excellent introductory work on Loyalists. Using a decent mix of primary and secondary sources, it should be considered a good place to start a Loyalist education, particularly with genealogists or reenactors new to the Loyalist side. Currently available at a low price from most of the major book chains.
Author Sabine, Lorenzo.
Title Biographical Sketches of Loyalists of the American Revolution, Volume 1
Biographical Sketches of Loyalists of the American Revolution: With an Historical Essay, Volume 2
Publisher Genealogical Publishing Co. Inc. Baltimore, 1979. Originally published in Boston, 2nd edition, 1864.
The first work dedicated to cataloging the Loyalists, these two volumes remain one of the standard works on the subject. While providing many interesting details on some select individuals, particularly New Englanders, much of the information gathered was hearsay and legend. Sprinkled throughout, though, is some period correspondence and obscure tidbits that make it an interesting read. While it should not be considered a perfect source, it still remains a respected work, particularly for its time.
