By His Excellency Francis LEGGE Esqr. Captain General and Governor in Chief &c &c &c

To all and every of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for the several Counties in the Province of Nova Scotia--

Whereas Lieutenant General GAGE Commander in Chief of His Majesty’s Forces in North America; has thought it expedient that a Corps of Light Infantry should be raised in this Province for His Majesty’s service and has sent Officers hither for that purpose--

This is therefore to require you the Justices for the several Counties in this Province, for every of you to do your Utmost in Aiding and Assisting the Officers appointed for that purpose and to give all manner of Encouragement in your power to promote and further the duty of raising Men for the Corps of Light Infantry aforesaid--

Dated at Halifax this 19th Day of June 1775--
