Loyal Refugee Volunteers
Orders from Cuyler to Ward

Sir

You are to take under your Command from Refugee Post two other Captains & 3 Lieuts. Vizt. Capts. LUKE & BABCOCK, Lieuts. HAUSER, BULL & PENDERGRASS with [blank] Private Volunteers & proceed in the most Private manner to Closter and the Neighbouring Settlements,

there Seize & Kill every Rebel or Disaffected Person, Carry off the Stock of every Rebel;

but by no means Committ an Injury to any reputed Loyalist;

I must recommend you to be cautious & doubt not but your own Prudence will direct you, to Secure your front Flanks & rear;

every Officer, Private or Volunteer is hereby Ordered & directed punctually to Obey the Order & direction of Capt. WARD Commanding the Party and Such other Officers as are directed to Command;

and those that disobey must Answer the Consequence at their peril & most Certainly such are to forfeit their Claims of any share or Proportion of Prize Money-

such of the Refugees & others that remain for the Defence of the Post are to Share half the Amount of those that go out.
