Carleton's Appointment as Colonel

Whitehall 14th August 1782.

Sir,

I have great satisfaction in acquainting You that His Majesty has been pleased to appoint You Colonel of the 84th Regiment of Foot, or Royal Highland Emigrants in the room of Sir Henry CLINTON, and that Your Commission has been delivered to the Agent to be forwarded to You in the usual manner.
