Rebel Receipt of Prisoners

Received of William Atlee Commissary of Prisoners at Lancaster two Persons returned to him & being with him as Prisoners of Warr of the Queens Rangers lately taken at York & Gloucester-

One of them named James LEWIS acknowledges that he deserted in December 1780 from a Jersey Regt. then commanded by Col. Spencer and the other named John or Saml. MILLER acknowledges that he deserted from the Delaware Regiment commanded by Col. Hall about two Years agoe from a command at Pyramus-

they having both notified their inclination to me to surrender themselves upon his Excellency Genl. Washingtons Proclamation of the 18th of Feby. last-
