Terms Settled with the Corps of Loyal Nova Scotia Volunteers, June 6th 1776

The Men already raised to be formed into two Companys, to be Commanded by Captains MONK and STUDHOLME VANPUTT, Lieutenants SOLOMAN & GREEN, & Ensigns CUFFE & CUNNINGHAM, being the two Eldest Officers of each Rank.

These two Companys with their Officers to Continue on Pay.

All the remaining Captains and Subalterns to recruit for their respective Companys, but are not to receive any more Pay, ‘till half their Companys is Compleated & approved of, by the Officer Commanding His Majesty’s Forces in Nova Scotia; when they will receive Pay according to the Following rules.

Such Officers, whose half Companys are approved of on or before the 1st of September 1776, to receive Pay Back from the 25th of June.

Such as have not then got their Compliment to receive Pay for three months back from the time their men are approved of.

The Field & Staff Officers are not to receive Pay ‘till half the Battalion is raised.

They are to Put themselves under the orders of the Officer Commanding His Majesty’s Troops, in the same manner as other Provincial Regiments, when doing Duty with his Majesty’s Forces, only they are not to serve out of the Province of Nova Scotia, according to former compact.

The Officer Commanding his Majesty’s Forces in Nova Scotia will appoint an Adjutant as soon as he sees it necessary.
