Thomas STEWART of Washington County in Maryland now in the City of New York, being duly Sworn on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God, deposeth and saith That he this deponent, is personally acquainted with Adam GRAVES as Captain, John George GRAVES first Lieutenant and Nicholas ANDRES second Lieutenant of the Associated Loyalists in the said and Neighbouring Counties in Maryland:

that he the deponent was also one of the Associators aforesaid, and was confined with the said Captain, first and second Lieutenant, in the common Jail of Hegers alias Elizabeth Town, from whence they the said Captain, first and second Lieutenant, were removed to Frederick Town, and he this Deponent released on giving bail for his good behaviour and appearance at a Court of Oyer and Terminer, when required:

and that they the said Adam GRAVES, John George GRAVES and Nicholas ANDRES were convicted of raising, inlisting and swearing a Number of their Neighbours to serve His Majesty the King of Great Britain as Soldiers during the Rebellion when ever call'd upon for that purpose by the Kings Generals

and that they, the said Adam GRAVES, John George GRAVES and Nicholas ANDRES on such conviction received sentence of Death, to be executed as is customary in Great Britain for High Treason, but that they the said Adam GRAVES, John George GRAVES and Nicholas ANDRES were afterwards reprieved on condition of being transported on Board of a French Man of War, never to return to Maryland.

And this Deponent further saith that they the said Adam GRAVES, John George GRAVES and Nicholas ANDRES were Freeholders in the County aforesaid, each of them Possessed of a Valuable Estate and good property which was confiscated and sold for the use of the (so called) State of Maryland.

And further this Deponent saith not.
