My Dear Sister,

I yesterday had the pleasure of seeing your son John. He is grown very fast since I saw him and I think improves in his looks & Education, and upon the whole I am very much pleased with him.

I have put him under the care of Mr. HUMPHREYS an old Friend & classmate of mine. Johnny will remain with this Gentleman in New York for three months certainly.

You will often hear from him, and I hope he will behave & improve himself in such a manner as will make us both happy. You need not send him any article of dress, or cloathing, for none will suit him to wear here that you can get where you live. He shall not want for anything, You may depend on it.

I thank you my dear Sister for your present of some Eggs but I desire you may not send me any more, or anything Else, for I do not want anything, we have plenty of every Thing.

I desire you will give my tenderest Love & Duty to our good old Father & tell him I will pay him a visit before next Christmas, if we both live so long.

Give my love to Brother John, and to my dear little Girls Abby & Nancy, and tell them if they do not sit up straight, & hold up their Heads, & look very pretty that their uncle will be very much disappointed, when he has the Happiness to see them.
