Savannah 9th June 1781

His Excellency Sir James WRIGHT Bart.
The Governor in Council

Sir,

When I accepted of the Command of the Malitia Which Your Excellency in Council did me the Honor to Appoint Promising me Suitable Reward for the same.

I then took Occasion to mention that my Views were not mercenary nevertheless It may be reasonable to Suppose That my Extra Expences on such Command and Disbursements for the Publick’s use must have been pretty Considerable For I find my Expence for the Present to Solicit a small Sum of Twenty five or Thirty Pounds for Immediate use till I can lay my Accounts before your Excellency and the Board of Council.

I have the Honor to be
with Perfect Respect
Your Excellency’s
Most hble & Obed. Servant
Thoms. ROGERS
