I the Subscriber one of his Majesties Loyal Subjects from the County of Dutches in the province of New York Do Certify that Mr. Joshua GIDNEY of the Same place was a person of a Valuable property of Lands, Stock &c. Likewise I Do Certify that he was taken prisoner By the Rebbels and Carried to Exeter for his Loyalty and Attachment to Government from Whence he made his Escape and Came to New York where he Entered A Volunteer in the Corps of Chasures Commanded By Left. Colonel EMMERICK Whereof I was Capt. Wherein he Behav’d himself Very Gallently Especially at the Storming of fort Mountgomery where he took Command of Capt. BARNSes Company and Brought them in the works after Capt. BARNS Refused to go on with the Ridgment from under my hand this twenty first Day of December one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty three.
