Memorial of Arthur Maddox

To His Excellency Thomas Carleton Esqr. Captain
General and Governor in and over the Province
of New Brunswick Chancellor and Vice Admiral of
the same &c &c &c.

The Memorial of Captain Arthur MADDOX of the Late Royal Nova Scotia Volunteers

Most respectfully Sheweth-

That your Memorialist entered into the Army at South Carolina in 1776 that he raised two companies in different Regiments for His Majesty's service-

in 1777 he received a Wound through the right shoulder and Breast under which he Languished for five Years-

that at the disbanding of the Provincial Troops he was promised Lands in the river St. Johns, which by unforseen accidents has not yet been carried into execution-

He therefore prays your Excellency will be pleased to grant him Madamkiswick Island in said river and the remainder of such proportion of Lands, as your Excellency will be pleased to grant him and his Family on the river Saint Johns-

and your Memorialist as in Duty Bound shall ever pray
