Claims & Memorials
Witness on behalf of Thomas Manson of Georgia

Ens. MANSON having requested my Certificate in support of such part of his Memorial as came under my knowledge, I do therefore hereby Certify, that being at the Evacuation of Wilmington myself I perfectly remember his leaving a Horse and also a riding Chair behind besides other Baggage. And that I saw a great Deal of Baggage, Furniture &c thrown over Board the Transport Ship Lord Howe on board which I was, she being so encumbered on the Decks which was obliged to be cleared in the most speedy manner to make room for the Troops and prevent her from Oversetting. I do also remember his leaving a Horse behind at Charlestown, because there was no Conveyance allowed for Subalterns Horses when that when that Place was Evacuated. Given under my Hand this 3d day of Septemr. 1784.

(Signed) Alexr. TOTHRINGHAM Lt.
late R.N.C. Regt.
