Esqr. Commissioners appointed to Enquire
into the Losses & Services of such Persons
who have Suffered by Losses Services &c
&c &c during the late unhappy Dissentions
in America.

The Humble Petition of James McEUEN


That your Petitioner late an Inhabitant of New Milford in Connecticut Early in the beginning of the unhappy Dissention between America & Great Britain, left his home the first day of December 1786 [sic-1776] & Inlisted in the 3rd Battalion of General Delanceys, Commanded by Colonel Gabriel LUDLOW & in Captn. Elijah MILES Company & Continued as a Private in sd. Battalion until such time he was discharg’d at St. Johns in the Province of Nova Scotia in the year 1783.

Your Petitioner likewise was sent to this Province with Edwd. WINSLOW Esqr. who came from New York before the Evacuation to Explore the lands for the Discharg’d Officers & troops late in his Majestys Service, and your Petitioner was Order’d to have his Lands Drawn in the County of Annapolis who after waiting near a year & a half: Often requesting the agents but to no purpose, was Oblidge to hire money to purchase a small peice of Land an Annapolis River for himself & family, which he now Improves, Occupy’s & resides on,

your Petitioner therefore humbly hopes, as there is some Provision made for those who have taken an Active Part, humbly hopes your honours will take his Case into your Judicious Considerations, & allow him such relief, as in your Good Wisdoms shall seem meet & your Petitioner as in Duty bound will Ever Pray.
