Petition of Joseph Lyon of Connecticut

To Coll. Thomas DUNDAS and J.
PEMBERTON Esq. Commissioners
appointed by a late Act of Parliament further
to Enquire into the Losses and Services of
all such Persons who have suffered in their
Rights, properties and professions during the
late Unhappy dissentions in America &c.
&c. &c.

The Petition of Joseph LYON

Humbly sheweth

That he resided in the Town and County of Fairfield and Colony of Connecticut till the late Unhappy dissentions in America;

and for his Loyalty to his Majesty and Attachment to the British Government was Obliged to leave his possessions and Join’d General TRYON the latter end of April 1777 in the above said County on his Expedition to Danbury with his Troops and came within the British Lines at New York for protection in consequence of which he suffered the loss of his property an account of which, & of his Services is hereto annexed.

Petitioner Humbly Prayeth that said Commissioners would be pleas’d to Enquire into the Losses and Services of said Petitioner, as in Duty bound your Petitioner will be ever thankful.
